Meet the Pastor
Rev. Oliver W. Wells, Senior Pastor
Pastor Dr. Oliver Warren Wells is the Founder and Senior Pastor of Christ the King Church in Melbourne, FL. He answered the Lord’s call to begin this new and exciting ministry at it’s present location in 2011.
Pastor Oliver W. Wells’ service and experience in the Gospel ministry and Christian music are extensive. After 20 years of church leadership, four pastorates in the Atlanta area and rural Georgia, and one in Indianapolis, Indiana, he accepted the call to serve as Assistant Pastor of the Greater St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church where he served faithfully for 12 years.
Rev. Wells has an extensive preaching history, having preached in every metropolitan area across the United States, the continents of Africa, Europe, and the Caribbean Islands. While in the Atlanta area, his messages were broadcast nightly on the Greater Heights radio program, a ministry of the Greater Jehovah Church in Grantville, GA. He has preached in every major metropolitan area across the United States of America.
In addition, Wells has served as Youth Rally Director of the Florida East Coast District Congress of Christian Education from 2000 to 2004 as well as Youth Rally Director of the Florida General Baptist Congress of Christian Education from 2004 to 2007. In 2007 he was privileged to serve as Guest Clinician / Composer of the African Methodist Episcopal Church Connectional Music Conference, held in Columbus, Ohio.
Pastor Wells has been blessed by God to use all of his talents in the service of the Lord, compiling an impressive list of accomplishments to the glory of God’s Kingdom. In 1991, Wells was approached by Mayor Maynard Jackson of Atlanta, GA to select talented vocalists in the Atlanta area, merge their voices and birth a choir to represent the City of Atlanta at the Montreux Jazz Festival in Montreux, Switzerland. Pastor Wells named the resulting ensemble, “The Atlanta SuperChoir.” Their extraordinary performance at Montreux, Switzerland received rave reviews from Europe’s music fans and critics alike.
In 2001, he was awarded the GRAMMY Award for the production of the Brooklyn Tabernacle CD, “God Is Working” and in 2002 was nominated for a DOVE Award for “Inspirational Album of the Year.” Pastor Wells was also a Stellar Award Nominee in 2002, 2004 and 2005.
As a preacher, teacher, pastor, songwriter, musician, and music producer, one can hear his preaching and music around the world. Projects include production of the well-known “Christian Contemporary Music” artist Babbie Mason’s CD entitled “Everything” along with production of the CD entitled “Coming Back To You” by artist Ruth Jefferson, First Lady of St. Peter Missionary Baptist Church of Vero Beach, Florida. He also penned the hit title, “I Need You Once Again” on the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir CD entitled, “Say Yes.” He also is the co-writer of "Sing," on the latest 2015 CD recording of the choir entitled, "Pray."
Pastor Wells attended the University of Miami, Miami, FL and Morehouse College, Atlanta GA with a concentration in Music Composition and Religion. He has received the Honorary Doctorate of Ministry degree from the University of North Carolina/North Carolina College of Theology June 4, 2004.
He is married to Linda Washington Wells and is the proud father of four, and grandfather of one.
